The Riverside Arts Market - The Dream
Becomes a Reality

After years of
planning and design, the Riverside Arts Market is now beginning its
second year,
providing an exciting addition to our community’s rich cultural
amenities.
I am so proud of the hundreds of dedicated individuals and
organizations who have helped to make this vision a reality. In
particular, I wish to thank Riverside Avondale Preservation, Inc.; our
local artists; local businesses; the Department of Environmental
Protection; the Florida Department of Transportation; the Jacksonville
Transportation Authority; JEA and the City of Jacksonville. Of
course, I am also grateful to Mayor John Peyton and my fellow
Jacksonville City Council members for their support.
It has long been my goal to provide greater public access and enhanced
recreational and cultural opportunities to better connect residents and
visitors to the St. Johns River. The Riverside Arts Market will
truly be a crown jewel among Jacksonville's riverfront attractions.
Not only is the Riverside Arts Market an outstanding amenity to
those who live and work in the Riverside-Avondale area, but I also
believe it will serve as a regional attraction to be enjoyed by
visitors from all over Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.
I am blessed to serve
in a district that includes some of our city's
greatest historic treasures and am certain the Riverside Arts Market
will complement those beautifully. I am pleased to have been a
supporter of this project for many years, and I look forward to seeing
the Market grow.
