Kirk Chamberlain has a passion for photographing people. He specializes
in lifestyles, portraits, couples and families. He is a full time
photographer based in Jacksonville, Florida where his studio is located.
At
the budding age of 11, Kirk Chamberlain set his sights on seeing
things differently––through the lens of a camera. His first darkroom
was a closet, with self-made negative trays from his mother’s cereal
bowls and a light bulb to expose paper with a negative held against it
and glass from a picture frame––better known today as a contact print.
With money earned from a paper route, Kirk then purchased an enlarger
to make bigger pictures. A large format camera, access to a Kodak
darkroom in New York, experimenting in non-silver methods and under
water photography, and many years of experience has transformed Kirk
into one of today’s notable professional photographers.
Kirk was a member of the George Eastman House and studied the great
photographers of the world. At the time, his was the first to earn a
perfect score on an advanced photography final exam. He teaches
photography courses and is a member of PPSNF, PPA and a Photoshop users
group. He is also a volunteer photographer for the Heart Gallery of
Jacksonville—a portrait exhibit to help foster children find forever
families.
Specializing
in commercial, wedding, art and landscape photography,
Kirk attributes his success in producing stunning photos to his ability
to “connect” with people bringing out their uniqueness and beauty. The
photographs represent people as animated and more fully themselves. The
images convey feelings of appreciation for life and joy. The vision is
to create simple beauty and truth.
